2 / 3-Axis Ultrasonic Anemometer Comparison
The ultrasonic anemometer is the high tech alternative to mechanical wind sensors and we are proud to offer the ultrasonic anemometers manufactured by Metek GmbH (click ultrasonic anemometer features to view the benefits of these sensors).
As shown below there are 3 ranges of sensors giving a total of 10 standard models to choose from or you can select only the features you require for a cost-effective custom built sensor, please click on customise for more details.

GENERAL
We first added the 3-axis (USA-1) Metek ultrasonic anemometers to our existing range of wind sensors in 2003. They were first made commercially available by Metek in 1992 and are used by research scientists around the world.
Metek GmbH is a leading meteorological instrument designer and manufacturer with a reputation for providing innovative well engineered meteorological instruments to the world-wide research community and ATS is proud to offer through Biral these Metek 3-axis (USA-1) sensors to our customers.
Highly appreciated by customers is the outstanding flexibility of the USA-1 sensors for a wide range of applications. Which means that you can select only the features you need to build a cost effective sensor to suit your measurement requirements. Of course you can always stick to our popular standard configurations, namely Wind Professional range based on the 30 Hz USA-1 model and Wind Research range based on the 50 Hz USA-1.
In 2005 Metek added the 2-axis (USA-2) ultrasonic anemometer to their product range which is built to the same standards as the USA-1 models. This is known as the Wind Horizon range and if you only need to measure the horizontal flow of wind this is the range for you. There is a choice of digital and analogue outputs with or without heating.
