Compact Wind Speed and Direction System

Mechanical cup and vane system

The Compact wind speed and direction system is a heated mechanical cup and vane anemometer designed for the measurement of the horizontal component of the wind speed with analogue output signals. It is well suited for:building control technology, industry, wind power systems, wind warning systems and the environmental protection sector.

The analogue outputs can be transmitted to recording instruments, data loggers, process control systems and displays. If you are interested in a display please  refer to the wind speed and direction indicator under accessories below.

For winter operation the instrument is equipped with electronically regulated heating which guarantees smooth running of the ball bearings and prevents the shaft and slot from icing-up

Compact wind speed and direction system includes:

  • Compact wind SPEED sensor,  model number model 4.3519.00.xxx
  • Compact wind DIRECTION sensor,  model number 4.3129.00.xxx
  • traverse for mounting jointly onto a mast (optional) 4.3171.3x.000

What it does

The Compact series wind speed and direction system has a sensitive wind direction vane. The speed sensor has 3 rotating cups that move around a high quality bearing system providing a set amount of rotations for each wind speed. The amount of rotations and therefore the wind speed values are converted to proportional analogue signal outputs and this allows this sensor to be integrated into the widest variety of stations and logging systems.

Examples of data output

The data is output in the form of an analogue user definable signal:

Electrical output
model 4.3519.00.140 0 - 20 mA Load 500 Ohms max
model 4.3519.00.141 4 - 20 mA Load 500 Ohms max
model 4.3519.00.161 0 - 10 V Load 1 kOhms min
model 4.3519.00.167 0 - 2 V Load 1 kOhms min
model 4.3519.00.173 0 - 5 V Load 1 kOhms min

Full scale output = 50 m/s (112 mph)
